Perplexity isn’t built for browsing online stores, finding product availability, or showing side-by-side comparisons like Google Shopping. For this, I use Perplexity just for getting the specs of the product, and I read or watch a review given by a human.

Limited Local Search & Maps Functionality
It can’t show nearby restaurants, directions, or real-time traffic, things Google Maps handles effortlessly. AI is evolving every day, but currently there isn’t any other option else of Google.

May Miss Context or Add Slight Inaccuracies
Although it tries to be precise, Perplexity sometimes oversimplifies answers or misses subtle details, especially in complex topics. This may be due to the developing stages of AI, but to handle this, I simply cross-check with the linked sources.

Depends Heavily on Available Web Content
If reliable sources aren’t available online, its answers may be shallow or overly generic. To handle this, I watch my query in the form of videos, even though it takes a little bit of time, which can help me get the actual result I want.

Unlike Google, Perplexity doesn’t personalize results based on your past behavior or preferences, which can be both a pro and a con. This doesn’t have an alternative till now, else than using Google.

May Struggle With Specific Niche or Technical Queries
For ultra-specific or highly technical topics, it sometimes gives broad overviews rather than deep-dive explanations. There, I prefer the completely human-written or created articles, which are based on the actual niche.

Summing up, I’ll only say that AI is very powerful, & tools like Perplexity are changing all the traditional ways to research which have come up over the last 2-3 decades. In a straightforward forward answer, till now, or even till next 3-4 years, I don’t think AI can fully replace Google, not just Perplexity, it concludes with every AI tool. But, AI had already replaced Google 70-80% if used smartly & by everyone.

AI can change the way we research; it has the potential, but applying it to every person takes time. By the way, these are my thoughts; yours can be different.
